Graham's Grand Slam, Part 1

The Whitecaps played their second double header of the season today against the Hyannis Mets. Brewster came into the day winning their last two games, while Hyannis had lost their last six.

The teams split a pair of one run games. The Whitecaps came away with a win in Game 1, beating the Mets 4-3 after four runs in their last at-bat (the 6th inning). Hyannis bounced back to win the second game 3-2 in two extra innings.

One of the stories of the day was the performance of Brewster third basemen/catcher Zach Jones. Prior to today's games, Jones had two hits in his last 35 plate appearances. Jones went 2-3 with a couple singles.

Jones is starting to heat up at the right time. He has registered a hit in the past two days for the first time this season. With the roster depleted from injuries and contract signings (like Nathan Baker's with the Pittsburgh Pirates), the Whitecaps need him to keep it up!

Brewster returns to action tomorrow (Monday, July 27) at 5 pm as they host the Cotuit Kettleers in game four of a five game homestand. Tune in at 4:45 for the pregame show with Nick, Craig, and me!
